The shocking incident was captured on CCTV. The video of the incident has gone viral on the social media. In the footage, a man can be seen seated in the middle of the road when suddenly a white I20 car runs over him. Shockingly, the driver of the car did not stop after the collision, dragging the man for a few meters. The disturbing scene was witnessed by another individual recording the video, who immediately raised an alarm. Two people on a scooter also intervened and attempted to stop the car.
Tragically, despite efforts to save the victim, he could not be rescued in time, and he eventually lost his life at the hospital during treatment.
Authorities have identified the car driver as Saurabh Sharma and have successfully apprehended him. An FIR has been lodged against him under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The video footage also revealed that the car involved in the accident displayed a flag of a political party and a sticker indicating "Vidhayak Pratinidhi" (representative of an assembly member) on the backside.
The incident occurred near the RDC Rajnagar bridge, falling under the jurisdiction of the Kavi Nagar police station area. A witness present in another car recorded the incident on his mobile device, shedding light on the distressing event.
