Guwahati: Various youth and students' groups on Monday organised a candlelight march in Agartala to protest the brutal assault and subsequent death of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Uttarakhand's Dehradun.

Angel was the son of a BSF constable. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to Angel Chakma's father, Tarun Prasad Chakma, expressing deep sorrow over the incident and assured him that justice would be delivered.

Dhami told the family that five accused have been arrested in connection with the case. One accused is believed to have fled to Nepal. A reward has been announced for information leading to his arrest. Dhami shared the details of the case with Tripura CM Manik Saha, Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh.

Hatred has been normalised: Rahul Gandhi Targets BJP

Congress' Rahul Gandhi posted on X, "What happened to Angel Chakma and his brother Michael in Dehradun was a horrific hate crime. Hatred does not emerge overnight, but is nurtured over years...and has been normalised by the hate-driven leadership of the ruling BJP."
