The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered a fresh CBI probe in connection with the alleged destruction of OMR sheets in regard to 2014 Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) for primary teacher's recruitment conducted by West Bengal Board of Primary Education. The court has directed the CBI to file its primary report on OMR sheet investigation within one month, by November 1, the date of next hearing.

Meanwhile, CBI is already investigating the primary Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) related recruitment issues and WBSSC recruitment irregularities in connection with secondary teachers, Group-C and D categories.

Around 12.95 lakh OMR sheets have been allegedly destroyed by the TET authority while 20 lakh aspirants had appeared for the examination.

Senior advocate Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said, “The TET authority is saying that OMR sheets were destroyed. Even after the timeline of destruction, it was supplied. There is mystery about the recycling of the OMR sheets because even after the cut-off date the OMR sheets were supplied.”

Meanwhile, during the day, Justice Abhijit Ganguly today permitted CBI to arrest Trinamool MLA & former President of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education Manik Bhattacharya in connection with WBSSC scam. The court also ordered that if he fails to reach the CBI office for the purpose of probe by 8PM today or if CBI thinks he is not cooperating, the agency can arrest Bhattacharya. Bhattacharya has allegedly not cooperated with the probe and failed to respond to several CBI summons.

However, later in the day, Bhattacharya received a relief for 24 hours from the Supreme Court, which observed that Bhattacharya cannot be arrested or take any stringent action against him in the next 24 hours. The next date of hearing has been scheduled tomorrow.
