Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court directed the special investigation team (SIT) on Monday to complete the investigation into deceased student leader Anish Khan's death within a month.

Justice Rajasekhar Mantha said while hearing the case that the SIT would have to complete the investigation without any delay, after which the court will decide whether the investigation should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The next date for hearing is April 18.

The court also expressed its displeasure over the report submitted by the SIT on the progress of the investigation and observed that the SIT must function independently without any external interference. The court also directed the SIT to submit the forensic report within a week to the court. Khan's mobile phone was sent for forensic test to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad.
