Cachar administration in Assam initiates a probe over suspicious postal ballot collection

Cachar Deputy Commissioner (DC) DC Keerthi Jalli said that the incident is being probed and will soon submit a report in this regard to the election authorities.

Following social media video of a government employee involved in the election process moving around collecting postal ballots, district administration in Cachar in Assam initiated a probe.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner (DC) DC Keerthi Jalli said that the incident is being probed and will soon submit a report in this regard to the election authorities.

The official identified as Biswajit Dey Purkayastha had gone to the residence of a voter to collect the postal ballot paper on Thursday. Purkayastha said that he was asked to collect postal ballots which were wrongly issued against a voter.
