By renaming India as Bharat, BJP is following Jinnah once again after CAA: Shashi Tharoor
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has accused the BJP of following of Pakistan's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah's wishes by considering a change in India's official name to 'Bharat'. Tharoor previously commented on BJP following Jinnah's views during the ...

Reports have speculated that the Narendra Modi-led government may bring a resolution for changing India's official name to 'Bharat' during the special session of Parliament. This came with official G20 dinner invitations from the Indian President that have been sent under the name of 'President of Bharat' instead of the usual 'President of India.'
On social media platform 'X,' Tharoor said "While the subject is live, let’s recall that it was Jinnah who objected to the name ‘India’ since it implied that our country was the successor state to the BritishRaj and Pakistan a seceding state. As with CAA, the BJP govt keeps supporting Jinnah’s view!"
Tharoor commented on this by quoting a news article by 'Scroll' which talks about Jinnah not being in favour of the name 'India.'
This is not the first time that the senior Congress leader has commented on BJP following the footsteps of Jinnah.
"CAA implementation would be the fulfillment of Jinnah's two-nation theory," said Tharoor at the Jaipur Literature Festival.
"I would not say Jinnah has won but he is winning," said Tharoor in 2020.
