The government has earmarked Rs 400 crore in Budget FY25 for India’s participation in the World Expo 2025 in Japan. The World Expo, similar to the one held in Dubai in 2020.

World Expo 2025 is going to be held in Osaka, Japan from April 13- October 13, 2025.

An India Pavilion will be set up at the expo and the estimated expenditure to be incurred in 2024-25 is Rs 300 crore and Rs 100 crore in 2025-26, according to the Budget documents.


“India will showcase its key initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India and achievements in different sectors such as Energy, Space Technology, IT, Tourism and Culture, during the six month long expo,” said an official.

The multi-billion dollar projects associated with the expo will generate significant opportunities for various sections in India.

India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) has been appointed as the nodal agency for the event.

As per the Budget documents, India’s participation in this mega event will send a message that India will have access to truly global platform to build new connections the world has to offer.
