Border Security Force has rescued over 1,200 villagers across flood-hit Punjab by deploying its air wing in coordination with the Indian Air Force and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), BSF said in a statement on Sunday.

In Gurdaspur's border villages, including Diller Pur Kheda, Makora and Chakmakoda, BSF's water wing teams, equipped with inflatable boats, evacuated more than 200 civilians. Similarly, in Ferozepur's Kaluwala, Nihalewala, Nihala Lavera, Dhiraghara, Baggewala and in many other border villages more than 1,000 villagers were rescued and ferried across the flooded Sutlej in the last few days.

Despite severe challenges, not a single life - civilian or BSF personnel - has been lost. Besides evacuations, BSF is also engaged in extending critical humanitarian assistance.
