A senior IPS officer, Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, has been arrested by the CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested DIG (Ropar range) Harcharan Singh Bhullar and an alleged middleman on bribery charges after an iron merchant from Fatehgarh Sahib district complained that the officer had demanded ₹8 lakh to “settle” a case, The Times of India reported.

During searches at premises linked to Bhullar, the agency recovered around ₹5 crore in cash, 1.5 kg of jewellery, 22 luxury watches, keys to an Audi and a Mercedes, as well as locker keys, 40 litres of imported liquor, a pistol, a revolver, and a double-barrelled gun, the report said, citing a CBI statement.

The CBI also seized ₹21 lakh in cash from the alleged middleman and documents related to immovable properties and other assets in Punjab, according to the agency statement quoted by ToI.
