The online application process for recruitment to 32,388 vacant school teacher posts under the Bihar Education Department was scheduled to begin from September 1.
A release issued by the BPSC said procedural changes led to the postponement, and that a fresh date would be announced soon.
The Commission had on August 18 issued a notification asking aspirants to submit online applications for the teaching posts from September 1, hours after students, demonstrating at Patna's Gardani Bagh area, threatened to gherao the education minister if the exam schedule was not announced "within 24 hours".
Opposition leaders in Bihar like RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya had also come out in support of the protesting students.
