Railways stated on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at around 11 AM, the City Police Control in Guwahati received a telephone call from the 112 Shillong Police. The caller, using a mobile number, informed the 112 Shillong Police that they were planning to blast a bomb at the Railway Station in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati.
This information was immediately disseminated to all concerned authorities. The police, along with the GRP and RPF, promptly initiated a thorough search of the entire station, utilizing sniffer dogs and bomb detection equipment, without causing any panic.
Railways stated the alternative cell number used by the caller has been identified, and further investigation is underway. After a meticulous search by all concerned agencies, nothing suspicious was detected, and all police agencies involved in the bomb detection operation have been dispersed.
The Gauhati university authorities received in an email where it stated bombs are planted in at least seven locations.
