Bogtui incident: Main accused 'reportedly' found dead under mysterious circumstances in CBI custody

The massacre at Bogtui village in West Bengal's Birbhum district took place on March 21 this year, where several persons were charred to death, following the death of Deputy Trinamool Panchayat head Bhadu Sheikh's murder.

Lalan Sheikh, allegedly the main accused behind the Bogtui incident, was "reportedly" found dead under mysterious circumstances in CBI custody on Monday. The massacre at Bogtui village in West Bengal's Birbhum district took place on March 21 this year, where several persons were charred to death, following the death of Deputy Trinamool Panchayat head Bhadu Sheikh's murder.

"I have been informed at 4.40 PM by the CBI that Lalan Sheikh has died in CBI custody. Following court directions, proper procedure will be followed," Birbhum Superintendent of Police Nagendra Nath Tripathi said.

"The autopsy will be done tomorrow", he added. CBI is conducting a Calcutta High Court monitored investigation in the case.
