As per PTI, Punjab reimposed blackout measures in several districts as a precautionary measure after withdrawing it earlier on Saturday. Blackout measures have been imposed in Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Pathankot, Patiala, Moga and Muktsar districts. According to ANI, a complete blackout has been enforced in Pathankot and Ferozepur in Punjab and Jaisalmer and Barmer in Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi said that a complete blackout was imposed in Gujarat's border district of Kutch late Saturday evening after several drones were spotted in the district. "Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe, don't panic," he announced on X.
Blackout was officially announced in Kutch and parts of Patan district, while people decided to observe it in parts of Devbhumi Dwarka -- districts near the international borders with Pakistan -- after reports of Pakistan violating the bilateral understanding. "A blackout is declared in the entire Kutch district with immediate effect and all citizens are asked to strictly follow it," the Kutch Collector Anand Patel said. The Patan district administration imposed blackout in villages in Santalpur taluka as well, collector Tushar Bhatt said, while appealing to the public to not pay heed to rumours. Blackout was also imposed in Jamnagar, officials said.
The move came following reports of a drone attack in Srinagar. As per ANI, red streaks were seen and explosions heard in Srinagar as India's air defence intercepted Pakistani drones. Loud explosions were also heard in Srinagar.
The Hoshiarpur administration confirmed that blackout measures began at 8:50 pm, accompanied by an air raid siren.
"Lights off as a measure of abundant precaution. Please cooperate," read a public message from district officials.
In Ferozepur, authorities enforced a blackout at 8:40 pm and urged citizens to switch off lights, assuring that there was no need to panic. Fazilka enforced a blackout at 9:30 pm, while Rupnagar authorities declared one from 9:30 pm to 5:30 am.
Ludhiana's district administration has kept blackout orders on standby depending on how the situation evolves.
Sangrur district also announced a blackout from 9:10 pm to 11:00 pm.
