BJP plans nationwide outreach push ahead of women’s reservation bill debate
New Delhi: BJP is preparing a major outreach campaign ahead of the women's reservation bill, which is set to be taken up during a three-day Parliament sitting beginning April 16.

BJP president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, briefing them on the party's campaign plan on the bill.

On Saturday, Nabin chaired a meeting of party leaders, including women and Union ministers, to discuss strategy. Union I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and women and child development minister Annapurna Devi were present at the meeting. National Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and party general secretaries BL Santhosh and Arun Singh also attended the meeting.

The party is working on a strategy to reach out to women, with the PM scheduled to address a group of women party workers and entrepreneurs here on April 13. BJP is also roping in prominent women from various fields to promote the bill through social media.

During Parliament session, several women personalities will be encouraged to attend proceedings from the visitors' gallery and engage with the media on the bill. Chief ministers of BJP-ruled states have been asked to organise programmes during and after the session to build momentum and raise awareness about the legislation. Women representatives from local bodies are also being contacted to participate in these programmes. The bill is expected to be discussed in both the Houses. The party plans to field women speakers in both the Houses during the debate.
