BJP leader's son arrested for killing receptionist at his resort in Uttarakhand

Haridwar BJP leader Vinod Arya's son Pulkit has been arrested following suspicion that him and his employees murdered a 19-year-old in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand.

The BJP leader is a former chairman of the Uttarakhand Mati Kala Board and has been granted a state minister's rank but holds no post in the government.

Arya owns a resort in the district's Yamkeshwar block, where the victim worked as a receptionist. The resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta were arrested along with Arya after they confessed.


The trio confessed to the crime and admitted to throwing her body into the Cheela Canal, Pauri Additional Superintendent of Police Shekhar Chandra Suyal told PTI.

A team has been sent to search for the girl's body in the canal, Suyal said, adding the case was cracked within 24 hours of being transferred from the revenue police to regular police.

The three accused have been sent to a 14-day judicial custody by a Kotdwar court. A missing complaint had been lodged at a revenue police outpost after the girl was not found in her room by her parents on Monday morning.
