The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has come under suspicion after a social media post surfaced threatening people in the Mumbai film industry who work with Salman Khan. Police are investigating the claim, though the gang's involvement in the firing has not been established.
The incident is the latest in a series of threats, alleged extortion attempts and shootings involving prominent Bollywood personalities. While Salman Khan has faced such threats for years, several other actors and filmmakers have also found themselves caught up in similar cases.
Salman Khan: From death threats to firing outside his home
Salman Khan's name has been linked to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for nearly a decade. The hostility is believed to stem from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan, where the animal is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. The first major public threat came in 2018. Lawrence Bishnoi, while being brought to court, openly threatened to kill the actor.

Four years later, in June 2022, a threatening letter was found at Bandra Bandstand, where Khan's father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, regularly went for morning walks. The letter warned that Salman would meet the same fate as Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who had been shot dead earlier that year.
The threats did not stop there.
In March 2023, Khan's manager received an email allegedly linked to Bishnoi and his associate Goldy Brar. The message reportedly asked the actor to meet Brar and referred to an earlier warning.
Then, on April 14, 2024, gunshots rang out outside Khan's Bandra residence.
Two men on a motorcycle fired several rounds outside the building before fleeing. Khan was unharmed, but the incident prompted a major police investigation that led to several arrests. Investigators also examined the suspects' alleged links to the Bishnoi gang.
