Relief for Bina Modi in assault case filed by son
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed trial court proceedings against Godfrey Phillips India chairperson and managing director Bina Modi and others in a case related to alleged assault on former executive director Samir K Modi. It also sought response from the Delhi Police on Bina Modi's petition against issuance of summons to her by the trial court.

The family has been engaged in a legal battle over the control of their business empire. Samir has accused his mother, Bina, of mismanaging the family trust and excluding him from key decisions. Bina has refuted these allegations.

Samir had filed a complaint over an alleged incident took place in May 2024 at the Jasola, New Delhi, office of Godfrey Phillips India. He alleged that when he attempted to attend a board meeting, he was stopped by his mother's personal security officer, Surendra Prasad, who claimed to be acting on her instructions. Samir said he was physically assaulted, resulting in a fractured finger that required surgical intervention.
