Big chip boost: Govt okays ₹4,594 cr projects; IIT Bhubaneswar to get new ₹45 cr SiCSem lab
IIT Bhubaneswar will invest ₹45 crore in a cutting-edge semiconductor lab with a SiCSem unit, marking a major boost for India’s chip manufacturing ambitions. The Union Cabinet has approved four semiconductor plants under the India Semiconductor Mission, worth a total of ₹4,594 crore. Two plants will be set up in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and one each in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, aiming to strengthen the nation’s tech and electronics ecosystem.
