Bhojpuri filmstar Ravi Kishan gets a ticket from Gorakhpur in BJP's first list. Here's all you need to know

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has shown immense confidence in Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan by giving him Lok Sabha ticket from Gorakhpur constituency once again, a seat he has held since 2019 elections.

Ravi Kishan won the crucial Gorakhpur seat, the bastion of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in 2019 by a margin of 3 lakh votes over Ram Bhuwal Nishad of Samajwadi Party (SP). BJP had lost that seat to SP in 2018 by-elections.

While the Modi wave may have played a role in Hema Malini and Ravi Kishan's victories in the previous General Elections, the saffron party has further pushed this time too, it by fielding them from the same seats.


The actor-turned-politician, took to social media platform X, to thank the BJP high command and for 'reposing faith' in him.

"For once again providing me the opportunity to serve the people of Gorakhpur and for reposing faith in me, I would like to express my gratitude to the respected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi ji and the National President of BJP, Honorable Mr. JP Nadda ji, the Chanakya of Indian politics, Honorable Mr. Amit Shah ji and Uttar Pradesh. I express my immense gratitude to the central leadership including the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Honorable Shri Yogi Adityanath ji," he wrote.


Kishan, whose earlier electoral foray had resulted in an abysmal show in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as a Congress candidate from his home town Jaunpur, joined the BJP in 2017.

In 2019, the actor termed 2014 Lok Sabha polls with the party a mistake. "It was a mistake. When I lost the election, no one in the party high command got in touch with me. I was dejected."
