Bengaluru: Bengaluru police are searching for a security guard after CCTV footage purportedly showed a man killing a puppy in south Bengaluru, according to a report by The Times of India.

The incident came to light on January 9 after a local dog feeder shared videos in a WhatsApp group, animal welfare volunteers said. The feeder had been regularly caring for a litter of eight puppies in the area. While the body of one puppy was recovered, the remaining puppies are missing.

A complaint has been lodged at Puttenahalli police by South Bengaluru Cares. Police have identified the accused as Nepal Kiran, who worked as a security guard at a restaurant in J P Nagar and was staying at his brother’s rented accommodation. He is reportedly absconding.

Manjari Chaitanya, founder of South Bengaluru Cares, told TOI that the case reflects a serious threat to society, while animal rights activist Priyam Chhetri called for stern action against the accused.
