The CCB and Bengaluru East Police have arrested Manoj Kumar Saini (41), superintendent, South Commissionerate, Bengaluru Zone, and other officials from the GST Intelligence, Bengaluru zone, Nagesh Babu (50), Abhishek Kumar (32), and Sonali Sahay (29) after a swift operation.
The CCB sleuths produced them before a local court which has handed them back to the CCB custody for further investigations.
According to the complainant Keshav Tak, an employee of Mexo Solutions, a business in Jeevan Bhima Nagar, four unidentified persons visited his house in the night of August 30 and took him into custody along with his colleagues Pavan Tak, Mukesh Jain and Rakesh Manak Chandani.
They were then taken to their office in two vehicles and locked up in separate rooms. Keshav said he was made to call their business associate Roshan Jain and get Rs 3 crore. When the arrival of money was delayed, the team bashed them up. Later Roshan Jain managed to arrange Rs 1.5 crore. The team released three of them after collecting the money. They later completed some formalities like collecting their signatures but left all papers behind while leaving with cash.
The victims later filed a complaint with the Byappanahalli police which was later transferred to the CCB Police. The CCB, according to a press statement, has seized several items from the possession of the accused.
