Bengaluru CEO mom kills 4-year-old son: A 39-year-old startup founder and CEO of Mindful AI Lab in Bengaluru has been charged with murdering her four-year-old son in a service apartment in North Goa's Candolim.

The shocking crime came to light when a member of the housekeeping staff discovered a bloodstain while cleaning the apartment from which Suchana Seth had checked out. The motive behind the crime is yet to be determined. Following an alert from Goa Police, Suchana was detained in Karnataka's Chitradurga district, and a police team from Calangute was en route to take custody of her and bring her back to Goa.

Here’s what happened

Suchana Seth, the accused, had provided a Bengaluru address while checking into a hotel in Candolim. The hotel staff suggested flying back to Bengaluru, citing cost-effectiveness and convenience, but she insisted on travelling by road. The hotel arranged a local taxi for her.

The investigation began when the bloodstain was discovered around 11 am, prompting the police to review CCTV footage. The footage allegedly shows Suchana leaving the service apartment without her son.

Inspector Paresh Naik of Calangute police station contacted the taxi driver and questioned Suchana about her son when she claimed to have left him at a friend's house in Fatorda. However, the provided friend's address turned out to be fake.

Motive
Inspector Naik then called the taxi driver again, instructing him to visit a nearby police station without arousing suspicion from Suchana. By that time, the taxi had entered Chitradurga district.

The taxi driver cooperated with the plan, leading officers to the discovery of the child's body in a bag when they checked the car at Aimangala police station in Karnataka.

The Goa police arrested the accused from Chitradurga in Karnataka on Monday night. She was brought to Goa on Tuesday afternoon, following which she was presented before a court in Mapusa town.

"Seth was brought to Goa around 1 pm on Tuesday and presented before a court in Mapusa town, which remanded her in police custody for six days," Police said.

Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said, "A team of Goa police, which is investigating the case, visited Chitradurga district in Karnataka and formally placed the accused under arrest."

"What she has told us so far is that she and her husband were estranged and that they are currently undergoing divorce proceedings," he said.

The accused woman hails from West Bengal and has been living in Bengaluru, while her husband is from Kerala. He is currently in Jakarta (Indonesia) and he has been informed about the incident, Valsan said.

According to him, the accused woman had stuffed the child's body in her "luggage".

The motive behind the boy's murder would be known only after her interrogation, he said.
