Kolkata: West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) recovered around 296 Kgs of Ganja, which has a value of approx 80 lakh INR in the grey market, and arrested two persons in this connection.

Mahesh Kumar Yadav (35) from Baka in Bihar and Swapan Kumar Roy (38) from NOrth 24 Parganas district's New Barrackpore were arrested, Bengal STF said. It has been found that this huge consignment of Ganja was coming from North Bengal.

A police case has been started at STF HeadQuarter Police Station. Both the arrested persons have been taken in police remand following the production and order by a local court in Barasat.


Yesterday on February 1, 2026 evening, a team of STF-West Bengal arrested two persons and seized a truck carrying huge quantities of contraband Cannabis at Moyna, in front of Maruti Suzuki Arina Showroom, under Barasat Police Station in North 24 Parganas districts.
