"Because of that barking sound...": An UP adolescent uses Alexa to prevent a monkey attack on herself and her sister
Nikita cleverly used Alexa to repel monkeys in Basti, UP. Her quick thinking saved her family. In another incident in Nashik, a boy locked a leopard in a room to escape harm.

When monkeys broke into their house, Nikita intervened to save her and her young sister. She related the story, saying that when some visitors came to their house, they left the gate open.
"After coming into the kitchen, monkeys began hurling objects around. Both the child and I were afraid, but then I noticed Alexa and ordered it to play a dog's sound. The monkeys fled from the sound of the barking, scared off," Nikita told ANI.
According to Nikita's mother Shipra Ojha, the two girls were spared from a monkey assault by Nikita's quick thinking. "They used the Alexa device well, and it saved their lives. We were in another room when Nikita, our wise daughter, instructed Alexa to play a dog sound and announce that the monkeys had fled," she told ANI.
Amazon's voice-activated voice assistant, Alexa, is a cloud-based system. In a same event that occurred earlier in March in Nashik, Maharashtra, a 12-year-old boy's life was spared by rapid thinking after the leopard had strayed into a structure.
The predator was successfully contained in the room when the boy calmly and swiftly got up from the couch, turned, and closed the door behind him.
Later, the leopard was put under sedation and taken out of harm's way.
