Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said the government will probe the sanction of solar power projects by DK Shivakumar during his reign as energy minister. Shivakumar held the energy portfolio during the Congress rule from 2013 to 2018.

Shivakumar heads the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). The chief minister told media-persons that the Congress was trying to hush up what he called a big scam.

“Giving a license online within seven seconds and the list of beneficiaries will reveal the truth. This is being probed,” Bommai said.

Shivakumar said he would welcome any probe by the government into the way he sanctioned projects at the solar park in Pavagada, and the BJP-led Union Government has recognised his work and commended him for the large solar project. All projects at the mega park had been sanctioned in a transparent manner, he said.
