Bangalore Literature Festival, the city's flagship literary event, will open for two days at Hotel Lalit Ashok on December 3.

The event will feature a host of distinguished authors and speakers including historian William Dalrymple, renowned poet Jeet Thayil, poet Jerry Pinto, researcher and journalist Akshaya Mukul, author-politician Arun Shourie; author/playwright Cyrus Mistry; screenwriter Honey Irani; author and writer J Sai Deepak, food writer Karen Anand, author and former Karnataka CM Veerappa Moily and Indian classical dancer Mallika Sarabhai.

Bengaluru-based authors at the event include Esther Ananthamurthy, Anita Nair, Jahnavi Barua, Roopa Pai, Prasad Bidapa, Vasudhendra, Vani Mahesh, Bijal Vachharajani, Mani Rao and Nisha Susan.


A few firsts this time are: Bringing to India leading names from the Asia-Pacific Writers and Translators (APWT); Launching ScreenLit, a platform for budding screenplay writers to pitch their stories to eminent filmmakers; LitMart returns, the platform where first-time writers can present their story pitch to a jury of publishers,
