Baba Ramdev expressed his gratitude, stating that it showcases the recognition of not just icons from Bollywood, Hollywood, and politics, but also spiritual leaders. During the event, Baba Ramdev performed a traditional ritual by applying a 'tika' on the forehead of his wax impression. His wax statue will be displayed at the museum in Times Square, Manhattan, joining the ranks of other distinguished Indian personalities.
"With world's top 200 icons, Madame Tussauds has given a saint this honour. I am very thankful and consider this honour as a pride moment for 'Sanatan' culture," yoga guru Ramdev said on his wax statue at ‘Madame Tussauds New York’ in Delhi.
As per reports, Ramdev provided his photographs and measurements to a 20-member team at the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London for the creation of his wax statue in 2018. He shared a series of images from the museum on his Twitter, showcasing poses such as the vrikshasan (standing on one leg), which mirrors the current stance of his wax figure.
According to the TOI report, the yogi, initially hesitant, but eventually embraced the idea with the hope that the statue could generate interest in yoga among international tourists.
