On Wednesday, the celebrations reached new heights as Ayodhya set two Guinness World Records! Thanks to the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and the Ayodhya District Administration, the city broke the record for the largest display of oil lamps, with an incredible 2,512,585 diyas lighting up the banks of the Saryu River. Plus, 1,121 people participated in a grand aarti, performing ‘diya’ rotations all at once, showing just how united everyone was in their devotion.

The event was graced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, who all enjoyed a stunning fireworks display that lit up the night sky. This year’s Deepotsava is super special as it's the first festival since the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony, where Lord Ram was officially seated in the temple.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proudly received the certificates for the new Guinness World Records. The achievements highlighted how incredible the celebrations were, with thousands of people coming together to share in the joy.
The festivities didn’t stop there! A dazzling laser and light show lit up Saryu Ghat, making the riverbank look magical. One of the highlights was a captivating sound and light display narrating the story of Ram Leela, drawing crowds along the river. The 25 lakh diyas symbolized the victory of light over darkness, filling everyone with a sense of unity and joy.

Deepotsava also featured 18 vibrant tableaux, each showcasing important moments from Lord Ram's life, crafted by the state’s Information and Tourism Departments. This five-day festival commemorates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after a 14-year exile, celebrating the city’s rich culture and drawing millions of people from all over.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called this Diwali "special." He pointed out that it's the first Diwali celebrated with Lord Ram in his new grand temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. He said, “After 500 years, Lord Ram is finally seated in his grand temple, and this will be the first Diwali celebrated with him there. We’re all so lucky to witness such a special occasion!”
Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. As families prepare for the celebrations, homes are decorated with colorful rangoli and lit up with diyas and fairy lights. The festivities include prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, sharing sweets and snacks, and exchanging gifts with loved ones. Fireworks fill the sky, creating a dazzling display that enhances the joyful atmosphere. Diwali 2024 is all about togetherness, reflection, and spreading happiness as we step into the new year.
