Auto Expo, Republic Day Parade rehearsals may cause jams in Delhi: Check traffic advisory, roads to avoid, restriction dates

Delhi is witnessing heightened activity with the Republic Day parade rehearsals and the ongoing Auto Expo. To manage the increased traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued advisories for specific dates and routes. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays.

Dates with traffic restrictions

Traffic restrictions are in place on January 17, 18, 20, and 21 due to Republic Day parade rehearsals. The restrictions will be enforced from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at key intersections, including Rafi Marg crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road crossing, and Kartavya Path to C-Hexagon. These measures aim to ensure smooth movement of armed forces contingents and tableaux along Kartavya Path.

Suggested alternate routes

Commuters traveling between north and south Delhi are advised to use Ring Road, Sarai Kale Khan, IP Flyover, Rajghat, Lajpat Rai Marg, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Attaturk Marg, and Kautilya Marg.


For those traveling from east to southwest Delhi, Vandemataram Marg is recommended. Travelers heading towards Vinay Marg, Shanti Path, or New Delhi can opt for Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, roundabout RML, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, or Park Street-Mandir Marg for smoother transit.

Guidance for Auto Expo visitors

The Auto Expo, part of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, is being held at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. Due to the Republic Day rehearsals, visitors are advised to plan their visit post-noon to avoid traffic congestion and delays.
