A photo showing Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh sitting with his feet on the World Cup trophy drew criticism from netizens. The photo was shared by skipper Pat Cummins as part of a series of images showing the team savouring the World Cup victory against hosts India. On Sunday, Pat Cummins-led side put up a clinical display as they beat the hosts by 6 wickets with opener Travis Head scoring 137 runs.

Mitchell Marsh's dressing room picture went viral and he trended on Twitter. "Winning world doesn't mean they respect that win. Trophy under the feet of Australian cricket player is disgraceful and disrespectful," said an user.

"How you see it ,dominance or disrespectful ?" another user said.

Some other users think that there should not be any issue. "Why to have issue even if he has his feet on the WC, their team won. It's their choice how do they want to use," said an user.

Another netizen said: "Our culture is obviously different from theirs. Stop moral policing everywhere. This is what Indian players are subjected to on a daily basis when everything they do is scrutinized. Please give it a rest."

In terms of Mitchell Marsh's performance on the field in the finals, it went unnoticed. During India's innings, he bowled just 2 overs for 5 runs. With the bat, he scored 15 runs off 15 balls.

However, in the overall tournament, he scored 441 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 107.56 and top score of 177.

Mitchell Marsh was also in the news for his prediction that India and Australia would meet in the finals of the World Cup. While speaking on a podcast show hosted by IPL franchise Delhi Capitals about six months ago, he said sees the possibility of a India-Australia final. He had also said that Australia will win by 385 runs after folding India for just 65 in the final.
