Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he met over 20 business leaders and exchanged views on how Assam offers unique opportunities across various verticals for enterprises to grow and thrive. He expressed confidence that these discussions will bear fruit in the coming days and months

Sarma, currently in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, stated on X, “Over the last 3 days, I met over 20 business leaders and exchanged our views on how Assam provides a unique opportunity across various verticals for enterprises to grow and thrive. These intense discussions will bear fruit in the coming days & months”.

He added, “At a dinner reception last night, I had the opportunity to showcase Assam’s investment potential to business leaders representing over 20 multi national corporations across four continents, representing a collective turnover of over USD $150 billion. I was joined by some very accomplished business leaders like Mr Kim Hedegaard, CEO, Power to X, Denmark, Mr Guillaume Taylor, ED, Foundation Montagu, Switzerland and leaders from Crescent Petroleum, UAE, Muthoot Fincorp, JSW Cement, Amara Raja Group among others.”

Sarma said, “We had an enriching dialogue on Assam's rapid growth, custom made policies for regulatory predictability and our huge talented workforce -which I believe makes us one of the most attractive investment destinations. I also understood the industry's current needs and how we can work together to achieve our mutual objectives.”

Sarma shared, “Assam is not only defined by its glorious past, but also steadily shaping new milestones. In 2025, Assam became the first State to be engaged in oil production with the discovery of oil in the Namrup-Borhat block. This will strengthen government revenue and accelerate the State’s growth”.
