At least seven people dead in floods and landslides in Assam

In the past two days in Assam and Meghalaya, around 23 people have died in floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall. Over 11 lakh people in 22 districts of Assam are affected by floods.

The flood waters have submerged 19782.80 hectares of cropland in the flood-hit districts.
At least seven people have died in floods and landslides in Assam on Friday.

In the past two days in Assam and Meghalaya, around 23 people have died in floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall. Over 11 lakh people in 22 districts of Assam are affected by floods.

Recent flood and landslide due to continuous rainfall has disrupted connectivity with Barak Valley. Special flight are deployed to rescue stranded people between Guwahati and Silchar from Saturday at a fixed fare of Rs. 4,000. Flights are being arranged by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) in association with Fly Big.


The flood waters have submerged 19782.80 hectares of cropland in the flood-hit districts.

At least six trains have been cancelled, and four partially cancelled following waterlogging on the tracks.

Both Assam and Meghalaya received 272mm more rainfall than normal till Wednesday.
