Assam: Violent protest after detentions over encroachment; office vandalised, vehicles torched

Violence broke out in Assam’s Chirang district after a protest over alleged land encroachment turned violent. Protesters vandalised the Runikhata forest range office, torched vehicles, and pelted stones at personnel, while also blocking roads. Authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Chirang and neighbouring Kokrajhar to prevent the spread of rumours.
