Further from now 80 per cent of the amount will be given to spouses and 20 per cent to parents.
The precedent all these years has been to grant the entire compassionate amount after a government employee's death to the spouse. This will ensure parents are also sufficiently guarded.
Sarma stated in X, “From now on, the compassionate grant for deceased Govt employees will be distributed in the ratio of 80:20. 80% of the amount will be given to spouses and 20% to parents. We don't want families to be divided in times of grief”.
To bring transparency in the transfer of government officials, the state will soon start a portal. Sarma said, “Government transfers and postings are a big source of corruption. To end this, our government will bring a portal through which employees will be able to transfer themselves. Government interference will be kept to a minimum in this. Assam Government employees will soon be able to apply directly for their own transfers through mutual understanding with other employees.”
