Assam student, who jumped from second floor to escape ragging, is now critical

Anand Sarma, M. Com Student, Dibrugarh University stated that he was tortured every night and he jumped off the second floor of his hostel of Dibrugarh University. He had earlier written letter to warden of the hostel.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the accused will face strict action and appealed to students to say NO to ragging.
A student jumped off the second floor of a hostel to escape ragging and he is now critical.

Anand Sarma, M. Com Student, Dibrugarh University stated that he was tortured every night and he jumped off the second floor of his hostel of Dibrugarh University. He had earlier written letter to warden of the hostel.

Anand Sarma's Mother, “Last night, he called me saying I am going to the hostel, and told me they torture me the entire night, till morning. My son fractured his leg and has injuries on his chest."


A case is registered by Assam police. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the accused will face strict action and appealed to students to say NO to ragging.

An ex-student of the University and four students have been arrested.
