A senior police officer said, “The JeM linkmen were arrested in special operations carried out by the Assam Police Special Task Force. While four JeM operatives have been arrested from Kokrajhar district, one JeM linkman was arrested from Dhubri district”.
On December 12, NIA arrested four people from Assam’s Goalpara district over suspected links with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).
NIA team along with Assam STF raids several locations in Goalpara district and nabbed four suspects in JeM money laundering case.
The NIA had recently raided 19 locations across India, including sites in Assam, as part of its effort to dismantle terror networks. These investigations focus on modules working to radicalise youth and establish extremist ideologies in the region.
On October 5, NIA arrested some individuals from Assam for their alleged links with Pakistan-based terrorist groups and nine of them were from Goalpara.
Sources added operations are ongoing in various parts of the country including Anantnag, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, among others, to root out these networks and prevent further recruitment.
