Assam police nabs one more Maoist operative
The NIA had on Sunday conducted searches in 17 different locations in Assam’s Cachar, Karimganj, Dibrugarh and Dhubri districts and also arrested a woman Maoist cadre Reema Orang alias Saraswati who has been on the run for a long time.

Earlier Maoist leader Arun Kumar Bhattacharjee alias Kanchan Da, a member of the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist) was arrested last month.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that Maoists’ threat resurfaced in the state leading to the stepped up operations against them by security agencies.
Meanwhile, the Manipur police seized around three kilogram gold, suspected to be smuggled from Myanmar, valued at Rs around 1.50 crore and arrested one person.
Acting on reliable information, Manipur police intercepted a car at Pallel check post in Kakching district and recovered the 18 bars of gold weighing 2.988 kilogram and arrested the driver of the vehicle Prakash Kshetri, 23.
Manipur Chief Minster N. Biren Singh tweeted: “Gold smuggler busted with large amount of gold! As we intensify the crackdown against the smugglers, the Kakching Police has apprehended one Prakash Kshetri (23) a resident of Moreh, Ward No 8 along with 18 bars of gold weighing 2.9 kgs during frisking at Pallel check-post today.”
