Assam police have arrested 17 Bangladeshi Nationals for violation of tourist visa norms.

These people had had come to the remote Baghmari area in Biswanath district and carrying out secret preaching/ religious activities. This is a violation of the Tourist Visas under the leadership of one Syed Ashraful Alam who is a Peer and the leader of the group, who was earlier warned in South Salmara District during his visit last month.

A senior police official who does not want to be named told ET, “We got information that 17 nationals were in Biswanath district. Religious preaching was carried out by them. They are members of a particular sect who also accompanied them. We verified them. On different dates they entered Assam.”
