Assam Police stated that, acting on preliminary input received from Gajraj MI, Tezpur, the IGP (STF), Assam, in coordination with the SSP, Sonitpur, worked on and further developed intelligence regarding suspected anti-national activities allegedly being carried out by Singh under the instructions of a Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO).
Police stated that, based on the developed intelligence, during the intervening night of October 3 and 4, 2026, the STF, Assam, conducted an operation and apprehended Singh, 31, originally a resident of Purba Champaran, Bihar, from a rented house in Gandhinagar under Satgaon Police Station in Guwahati.
During the operation, a mobile phone, SIM cards and incriminating documents were recovered and seized from his possession.
A preliminary investigation has revealed his alleged involvement in espionage-related activities, including passing secret information concerning security forces to the Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO).
Police stated that Singh was subsequently arrested in connection with STF PS Case No. 09/2026.
Further investigation is underway.
