Assam minister Bimal Borah on Monday filed an FIR after a fraudster asked money through a WhatsApp number from government officials in his name.

Industry minister power minister Bimal Borah has lodged a Fir with the Dispur police station in Guwahati. A senior official who did not want to be named said, “Money was demanded from several government officials and businessmen through the fake account opened in Borah’s name, that also had Borah’s picture.”

Borah said, “It is done by some people who want to earn easy money. They have opened an account in my name but thankfully no one has given them money till now. In this regard, I have lodged an FIR at the Dispur Police Station. I am hopeful that the police will nab the criminals soon and take necessary action against them” the minister told reporters at Guwahati.
