Assam militants claim they released two ONGC employees, suspect third was killed in firing

On 21st April the employees were abducted from the work over rig site of ONGC located within Lakwa T.E. Cholapather grant under Sivasagar district.

Outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) militants claimed that it has released two ONGC employees kidnapped by outfit and suspects third employee’s “killing” in firing or is being hidden by security forces.

On 21st April the employees were abducted from the work over rig site of ONGC located within Lakwa T.E. Cholapather grant under Sivasagar district.

Assam Director general of police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta tweeted, " So far Security Forces have been able to rescue 2 of the total three victims from near the India Myanmar border in Mon Dist., Nagaland. The rescued 2 are Alakesh Saikia and Mohini Mohan Gogoi. Efforts are going on to rescue the third victim."


In another tweet, he stated, "I take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt thanks to the personnel of 57 Mountain Div. Leimakhong and DGP Nagaland and Nagaland Police personnel and above all the Village Elders of Mon districts, Nagaland upto Maniakshu near Indo-Myanmar Border. "

The outfit in a statement stated the ULFA(I) and NSCN had taken, Mohini Mohan Gogoi, Alakesh Saikia and Ritul Saikia – in their custody. " Encounter took place from 10pm to 2.30 am and more than 500 armed forces personnel belonging to Army’s 73rd Brigade, 35 Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police attempted to release them.”

The outfit added, "keeping in view the safety of ONGC employees they were left in Tokok Singkhu village under Nagaland’s Mon district. we suspect that Ritul Saikia has either been killed in firing or his being hidden by security personnel. "
