Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday had a meeting in Guwahati on border dispute.
Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told media persons, “Both the chief ministers had a meeting. Today we had a productive and good meeting. On or before January 15 we are going to sit down and resolve the issues. Both the regional committees will submit the report before January 15.”
He added that both the chief ministers will take a call on the report. We have six areas of differences, if we are not able to solve all the differences we will be able to solve some on or before January 15.”
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier said while there are 12 disputed areas between Assam and Meghalaya, presently six places have been taken up in the first phase for resolution.
Sangma had said that the people of Langpih area have suffered in the last 49 years because of the differences that exist.
