Assam legislative assembly secretariat asks employees to attend office on all working days in formal attire

Assam legislative assembly secretariat has asked the employees to attend office on all working days with Formal Attire only.

The order of Principal secretary of the state assembly stated,” All employees should attend office on all working days with Formal Attire only (Salwar Suit/Saree/Mekhela-Chador, Formal Shirt Pant and not Casual attire such as T-shirt, Jeans, Leggings etc.). However, traditional dress of any community of Assam should be worn every Wednesday as desired by the employee.”

The order added, “All employees irrespective of any rank should wear Office Uniforms to be prescribed and provided by this Secretariat mandatorily during the Assembly Sessions and any other formal occasions/programme etc. of Assam Legislative Assembly as and when decided by the competent authority.


Any employee, who fails to comply with the instructions stated above, shall be liable for strict action. Further, any employee failing to fulfil the requisite hours of working shall be liable for deduction in his/her monthly salary.”

The order stated that in the interest of smooth and effective functioning of Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat and as per direction of the Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, the following instructions shall strictly be followed by all employees of this Secretariat including the staff working on daily wage/fixed pay/monthly honorarium basis with immediate effect.

The order said, “All employees as specified above should reach the office at 09:30 A.M. sharp and mandatorily mark their attendance in the biometric attendance system and log out only after office hours at the time of leaving the Office. However, office timing is subject to the exigencies of official work and employees should perform duties above and beyond official working hours as per need and urgency of work from time to time.
