Mild blast reported near Army base in Assam's Jorhat

Tension rose in Jorhat, Assam, on Thursday evening as a mild explosion echoed near the gate of the military station, according to ANI, a Defence PRO confirmed the blast.

As per the ANI sources, the sound was heard in Jorhat this evening.

The recent explosion follows two different grenade blasts on November 22 and December 9. On November 22, a grenade detonated near the entrance of an Army camp in Dirak, Tinsukia district, resulting in no reported casualties. Another blast occurred on December 9 at the 149 CRPF in Joysagar, Sivasagar district. ULFA-I took responsibility for both events.
