The Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (KSCF) has proposed a slew of fresh schemes to rehabilitate victims of child marriage even as it welcomed the Assam government's action against child marriage.

The total number of arrests in the drive against child marriages in Assam reached 2,528. Around 4,074 cases were registered. As many as 65 people have already secured bail.

Managing director of KSCF, Rahul Kumar Shrawat said, "Our organisation appreciates the strong action by the Assam government to eliminate and penalise child marriages in the state. The action by the state government is the first ever stringent step by any state government in the country to protect children. We also appeal to the state government to look at the human aspect involved in this situation. As young girls are the victims of child marriage, the state government must take consider our proposal compassionately to provide immediate rehabilitation and compensation to the victims to reduce their pain".
