Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state assembly said that a new law on domestic helpers will soon be introduced by the government.
He added, “It is observed that many Adivasi people and people from tea gardens are engaged as domestic workers. We will bring a law whereby registration, health and education will be mandatory for domestic help. “
He said, “According to me if a child below 14 years is removed from their parents this itself is trafficking. One must understand just because a child is taken outside the state it is human trafficking but within the state also it is human trafficking if a child is moved from the home to other place".
