To reduce the workload on police forces, two shifts of duty will be introduced in all police stations across the state. The conference also discussed welfare of police forces including construction of quarters for them. Moreover, one month special leave will be given to the police personnel posted at different battalions to enable them to live with their families. A Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) will be prepared soon to implement it. A free compulsory health check-up facility will be introduced for the police personnel once in a year.
Sarma said that to enable the SPs and DCs to sort different issues of administrative importance two separate conferences will be held every year in the state. The first DCs conference will be held in August in Diphu this year. “Seven forensic science laboratories will be set up in the state. The conference also decided to adopt zero tolerance towards cow smuggling and drug smuggling. All SPs have been asked not to allow their districts to be used as transit routes.
Talking about the inter-state boundary issue, Sarma said that Assam will protect its boundaries at all cost. However, it will also live in the spirit of seven sisters to promote balanced development.
