In 2017, the Board of Trustees of Tata Trust has informed that it has approved Rs 540 Crore for setting up of 3-level cancer care grid at state, capital and district levels.
Assam government has decided to confer the 'Asom Baibhav Award', state’s highest civilian award, to industrialist Ratan Tata.

Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma told media persons Ratan Tata has enormously contributed to the Cancer treatment in Assam.

“Delighted to announce that the Government of Assam has decided to confer its highest civilian award, Assam Baibhav, to Ratan Tata, Chairman TATA Trusts for his exceptional contribution towards furthering cancer care in Assam,” the Chief Minister tweeted.


In 2017, the Board of Trustees of Tata Trust has informed that it has approved Rs 540 Crore for setting up of 3-level cancer care grid at state, capital and district levels.

The project envisages investment of Rs 1400 Crore. Under the project a South Asian Cancer Research centre is also proposed to be set up, to undertake research on identifying reasons and develop treatment protocols with a focus on South Asia.
