Assam was supplying 15 metric tonnes of oxygen to several neighbouring North eastern states. Moreover, Assam use to receive 160 MT of oxygen every week through Oxygen Express.
What is likely to bring investment in the oxygen production section, Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC)has allowed rebate of 20 percent in energy charges for oxygen manufacturing units.

Abhijit Barooah, Managing Director, Premier Cryogenics Limited told ET, " During the second wave of covid 19 we have seen how oxygens demand increased manifold. The rebate will bring investment in this sector and assist the existing units in sustaining. "

The AERC announced it has allowed 20 percent rebate on total energy charges to the oxygen plants for their continued contribution during covid period.


During sector wave of covid 19 manufacturing units in Assam had an installed production capacity of 61 MT daily along with ample storage capacity.
