Assam enters Guinness World Records Hall of Fame for largest number of handwritten notes
Assam has earned a place in the Guinness World Records for the largest number of handwritten notes submitted for a common purpose during an essay writing to mark the 400th birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan.

The authorities with the Guinness World Records handed over the certificate to the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to the authorities, more than 57 lakh entries came in from different parties, but the Guinness World Records officials only accepted the images of the handwritten essays for the purpose of this record.

Lachit is known for his legendary leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat where Mughals were defeated. The Assam government planned elaborate events to celebrate Lachit’s birth anniversary and run a national and international campaign depicting the valuor of the Ahom General.

Sarma tweeted, “ Assam once again enters Guinness World Records Hall of Fame. This is special,as 42.9 lakh handwritten notes on Lachit Barphukan is recognised as the world's largest online photo album in the world. I salute our youngsters for having shown their affection for the legendary General.”

Assam is eyeing to create the Guinness record of largest congregation of Bihu dancers on April 14 during the Rongali Bihu (spring festival). Prime minister Narendra Modi will attend the event in Guwahati.

The Assam government will send invitations to all the governors and chief ministers of all the states to attend the event. Ambassadors of G 20 countries and South East Asian countries will also be invited.

The largest Bihu dance performance in a single venue will be participated by 12,000 troopers.
